The goal has been to make the shapes clearly readable and to communicate the most important information to the player, while maintaining the simplicity of form and lack of detail that suits the art style of the initial, low-tech villages.

Watching your villages grow both in size and complexity is one of the indirect rewards for progression. For this reason, your buildings start out nearly as a blank canvas on which details are gradually added.
